Writer and Photographer

About Me

A Little Bio

I was born in Chicago and raised in the suburbs, spending much of my childhood in La Grange.  I joined the La Grange Fire Department in 1970 and served for 33+ years, retiring as Fire Chief in 2004.

My wife fostered a love of travel and history, and through traveling I discovered my love of photography.  I had no thoughts of becoming an author, however, until I was asked to write a short piece on the history of the La Grange Fire Department.  That short piece evolved into a book covering the first 60 years of the department.

While researching the fire department book, I was struck by the information and circumstances attendant to the development of the motion picture theaters in the village, which then set the stage for writing a second book.  And, it has also started the wheels turning on a possible third book on transportation.
